More information about Grey Gardens the Musical in Japan

We learned about this production of Grey Gardens the musical (グレイガーデンズ) recently, but we couldn't understand the details. A huge thanks to Sooim for providing this information!

It will open in November 7, 2009 at Theater Creation in Tokyo. It'll be closed on December 6 and goes to other cities, Osaka and Nagoya, in Japan.

I don't think they intentionally picked this date for their opening, but I'm happy to know that they chose Little Edie's Birthday!

The one-time Tony nominee Mr. Amon Miyamoto will direct the show, which stars Ms. Shinobu Otake and Mitsuko Kusabue.

The original documentary film has never been released in Japan in any way. So the Japanese audience knows nothing about those lovely ladies!

HBO's film, however, will be aired on cable TV on November 3 in Japan.

Sooim also writes that they will be using the fake Mexican brooch in their production. Grey Gardens is so international!
